Ampliación Interna Casa DB
Arq.Jimena AYALA & Jorge DALESSANDRO
It is therefore no accident that the private house occupies a special place in the history. Because of its intimate connection to daily life, the space of the modern house signaled changes in the form of everyday life in a way that no other artistic practice could.
The DB House is in a 1950s neighborhood in Santa Fe City.
The interior is continuous with the exterior, and composed of similar materials. This typically minimal separation of interior and exterior creates a dynamic of shifting spaces.
This is an architecture caracterized always by lightness and transparency.
Views, light and orientation govern the exteriors. The language of advanced modernism is tempered by new climatic requeriments and the programmatic demands of society.
Boundaries are dissolved and extended, and spaces interconnect so that the perception of space is neither fully revealed, nor fully closed, but always open to another space beyond.
The DB House has been, furthermore, an exercise in money-saving, since its construction cost is approximately half the normal figure due to a highly economical structure and to the client's special gift for negotiating and encoutering used materials.
